Newcastle United wants to strengthen itself with Ajax player, Amsterdammers want to cooperate’

Geronimo Rulli is in the interest of Newcastle United, Argentinian media report. The goalkeeper does not have to count on much playing time at Ajax , now that Diant Ramaj has seized his opportunity as the first goalkeeper.

Nick Pope is normally the first choice under the bar at Newcastle. However, the goalkeeper is struggling with a shoulder injury that will keep him out for several months. Martin Dúbravka had a chance in recent games, but conceded eighteen goals in eight games.

Rulli should now become Pope’s temporary successor. The Argentinian is still under contract with Ajax until mid-2026 and the club has the option to extend the contract for one year, but despite this, the Amsterdammers would be willing to cooperate in the goalkeeper’s departure. He himself would like to leave the Johan Cruijff ArenA behind him, now that he has no prospect of playing time.
