Real Madrid announces contract renewal with Militão until 2028
Real Madrid made official this Tuesday (23) the contract renewal with defender Eder Militão. The new relationship between the parties lasts until 2028. The defender is still recovering from a serious ligament injury to his left knee suffered in August 2023.
Militão’s injury occurred in the second half of Real Madrid’s debut match in LALIGA against Athletic Bilbao, in a 2-0 victory, on August 12th.
In a tackle, the Brazilian defender appeared to bend his knee backwards as he tried to stop on the pitch. Militão fell to the ground and started crying. The player managed to get up and walk with assistance, before being replaced by Rudiger.
In October, ESPN reported that the athlete could return to the field before the deadline, in mid-April and early May.
Militão arrived at Real Madrid at the start of the 2019/2020 season after leaving Porto. Revealed by São Paulo, the defender stayed in Brazil until August 2018, when he was traded to Portuguese football.
